Bangor-on-Dee
As well as being a well known National Hunt course Bangor is also the site of the newest Point-to-Point course in the area. The first meeting was held in 2006 and thanks to a hard working team the course has improved every year since. The course itself is roughly triangular with only gentle undulations and is now fully railed on both sides. Bangor benefits from having permanent facilities giving spectators a more comfortable experience. The Clerk of the Course also has access to machinery to help keep the course in peak racing condition including watering facilities. The full facilities at the course are used at the point-to-point meetings, including weighing room, changing rooms with hot showers, pre-parade ring and saddling boxes, parade ring, bars and hospitality marquees. An agreement was signed in February 2010 to ensure the 2 point-to-point meetings will stay at Bangor until 2014. Track Report 4th April 2011 Ed Gretton reports "Really pleased with the first meeting – some 330 miles covered at the gallop and only a couple of injuries – scrapes etc. – pretty much perfect (if not long day). The track will take a bit of time to come back, but it has been verti-drained, over-seeded and watered since and so should be no problem for the next meting" Click here to see the Inspectors Report for the March 13th Meeting Click here for the latest weather forecast
